I am an anthropologist based in the United States and conduct research on creative industries, music, human rights, and intellectual property rights.
I am completing a manuscript on copyright and music in several African countries including Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, and Ghana. The research delves into the development of new copyright laws and the mixed means with which artists make use of these laws. A forthcoming project will explore the role of humor in elections, politics, and everyday life in Tanzania. I also continue to explore the role of human rights in contemporary society with particular attention to rights within creative arts communities and among artists. I am a professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Bryant University. I can be contacted at aperullo at bryant.edu. |
